Evaluation - Question 2

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups ?

These two images are very similar, the posture of both girls is leaning over the guitar as they are playing it looking focused as their facial expressions show that they are concentrating on where they put their fingers. Both girls are gesturing to be playing music however my image on the left is as the girl is trying to find her position where as the other seems effortless. The makeup is very similar as they are going for a natural look however have then both chose to wear a dark shade of lipstick. The angles are relatively different as my shot is taken from the center, very much head on whereas the picture on the right it has been taken at a slight angle to the right. The shot type in both images is a mid shot. The lighting if very different as the one on the right was taken in an out doors location, she is surrounded by nature where as my shot was taken indoors where there is very little light which is how I wanted the image reflected because it gave a vintage effect. The costume of the two images is very different one is dressed for summer where as the other for winter but showing the different type of clothing that is worn for this particular social group.
Overall, I think that these two images including all these elements are representing a social group of young people who are quite different and unique compared to other social groups, they are very  much into their music specifically acoustic guitar which I think reflects in my magazine.
I aimed my magazine at older teenagers and young adults of both genders, to reflect this I used a colour scheme that is not gender specific like Black, white, red and purple. I also included artists/bands of both genders for example my main feature Kelsey Jones, The vaccines, Olly Murs and The Courterneers to get across to my audience the type of genre I was aiming at which I think I done successfully. I took inspiration for NME magazine which also has the same target audience therefore took into consideration the layout, colours and features that they included and tried to present something similar in my magazine. I wanted to represent the genre as best I could reinforcing it through different elements and conventions so that my target audience would be interested in purchasing my magazine.
