Final Font Cover

Below is my final music magazine front cover.

Here is the completed and finished version of my music magazine front cover. I am very pleased with the end result especially after making changes due to audience feedback as it has improved. As you can see I have added the price of the magazine which is just above the barcode, I chose yellow as this would standout to my audience. I have also included a website in red just under the masthead as this can be seen easily by he reader also connoting its importance. The masterhead of my music magazine is 'RIFF' it is called this after asking for feedback from my target audience, it was decided this was the best name because the main sound of indie music is made from a guitar riff. I enlarged the text so that it could be seen clearly and chose black, as it stood out against the background as it is now unique to my magazine it makes it easily recognisable. For the rest of the text I used the font 'Marcelle script' as it is easy to read and makes the cover look stylish otherwise my music magazine would not get purchased. I chose red, white and yellow as the text colour because it contrasted against their backgrounds but also because I wanted my magazine to be unisex therefore selected colours that were not gender specific. I think that the text and colours flow nicely around my cover tying it yet all standing out individually. Furthermore, I used circles for the puffs and stars for the rating as I thought this was unique to my magazine and people would recognise them if I used them with each issue. I am very pleased with the main image I had chosen to use as the background as the mise en scene for my artist I chose very carefully after doing research into the genre for example the artist is wearing a vintage leather jacket, high waisted shorts and tights which one of the aspects of the gene was vintage clothing. Also I had the artist put her hair in a messy bun as again this was a convention of the genre. Moreover, I think that my target audience would purchase my music magazine because I have included all the conventions of an existing magazine and focused on using the right features, mise en scene to get across the genre of indie. Additionally, presenting features such as 'The Vaccines new album given four stars' shows the audience that indie bands/artists are featured within which they will be interested in reading about.
